Την περασμένη Πέμπτη άλλαξα λίγο την εμφάνιση και λειτουργικότητα του γραφείου μου. Μέχρι τώρα είχα πάνω του το laptop, την οθόνη, ποντίκι, ηχεία, subwoofer και διάφορα άλλα π.χ. βιβλία. Γενικά επικρατούσε ένα χάος (κλασσικά). Έτσι που όταν πήρα τη γενναία απόφαση να το συμμαζέψω λίγο σκέφτηκα πως θα μπορούσα να γλιτώσω αρκετό χόρο εάν “έκρυβα” το laptop μου κάτω από το γραφείο -πάνω στη συρταριέρα, αφού έτσι κι αλλιώς το χρησιμοποιούσα μόνο σαν πληκτρολόγιο γιατί το είχα συνδέσει με την οθόνη. Έτσι, έβγαλα όλα τα καλώδια από πίσω και έβαλα το laptop πάνω στη συρταριέρα. Βέβαια είχα κάποιες ανυσηχίες καθώς είναι μικρός ο χώρος και μπορεί το laptop να γινόταν overheated, αν και μέχρι τώρα το ανεμιστηράκι κάνει πολύ καλά …

Since my inbox gets some times a bit overcrowded by mails and I have an attitude to reply immidiately or at least as soon as possible to mails and don’t want any unreads in my inbox, I have thought several times how to prevent and decrease as much as I can this from happening. Πολλά είναι τα Twitter clients εκεί έξω, είτε είναι για το desktop σαν standalone apps ή addons του Firefox ή apps για το iPhone. Δυστυχώς όμως για όσους χρησιμοποιούμε το web interface περισσότερο από τα υπάρχοντα Firefox addons ή των desktop apps αρκούμαστε στο υπάρχον Twitter layout, χωρίς κάποια keyfeatures που θα το έκαναν κατά κάποιο τρόπο πιο οργανωμένο και ακόμη πιο εύχρηστο. Thoughts on Ubuntu 8.10
Considering myself most times as an early adopter, this time with Ubuntu’s new version I didn’t upgrade as soon it was released. The problem is that the last weeks I don’t have too much free time to spend on computers and other things I like. Anyway, the point of the post is not whether I have or not spare time, but the brand new Ubuntu 8.10. For you that you don’t have upgraded yet, I highly recommend it. There are two ways for upgrading, one with a clean install and the other from upgrading via your current installation (8.04 or 7.10 etc). I thought of this blog post while looking my traffic stats in Google Analytics and in WordPress’ blog stats. Actually I was looking in the “traffic sources” summary from Analytics. Let’s take it from the start though. Bloggers need audience -readers- in order to keep writing and blogging. Bloggers need feedback, motivation and everything that a normal man needs. Bloggers are not something more nor less than just another person next door. But how a new blogger will gain a sufficient audience and keep going? Back from Sölden!
Hey guys! I’m back from Sölden, the opening World Cup Giant Slalom race of the 2008/9 season and I can say that it was great! Not only the atmosphere was great, but also the people, athletes and parties! Lot’s of parties and drunk people because of too much beer, heh! Besides ski training with Esperos and the perfect snow and weather conditions, I’ve got lots of autographs in two (one big and one small) posters! There were too hard to find (really) and I am very happy, because if you think it, I am the only guy in Greece who has them with so many autographs. Yay! How many times you found a great website with a search term you don’t remember now? How many times you were thinking “this great site which I don’t remember it’s name”? Well, Google (once again) has the right answer. Do some Google search -the query can be whatever you want- while signed-in with your Google (Gmail) account. Click on some results you find interesting and then check google.com/history. There, there will be all your search activity. Συνδυάζοντας σχολείο και blogging
Τις τελευταίες βδομάδες όπως παρατηρήσατε, δεν ανεβάζω πολλά post στο blog όπως επίσης έχει πέσει και η συμμετοχή μου σε Twitter, Delicious και Digg. Γενικά όλο μου το web ego είναι λίγο πεσμένο. Και ο λόγος? Το σχολείο και οι υποχρεώσεις που προέκυψαν είναι γενικά πολλές. Ευτυχώς όμως, που την επόμενη βδομάδα τελιώνει η “εποχή των τεστ” και θα ψιλοχαλαρώσω με την όλη την κατάσταση. Φτιάχνοντας ένα Social Network με το Ning
Το Σαββατοκύριακο που μας πέρασε χρειάστηκε να φτιάξω ένα website για το τμήμα μου στο σχολείο, στο οποίο θα βάζαμε τα καθήκοντα, διάφορα νέα, φωτογραφίες, το πρόγραμμα και γενικά σχετικά και μή με το σχολείο μας. Στην αρχή σκεφτόμουν για ένα blog στο Worpdress ή ένα tumblog στο Tumblr. Τελικά μέσω ένα tweet μου ο φίλος KCorax μου πρότεινε να κάνω ένα social network στο Ning. Σαν ιδέα μου άρεσε, αλλά επειδή δεν είχα ξανα-ασχοληθεί με το Ning δεν το είδα πολύ θερμά στην αρχή το θέμα. Βέβαια κατέληξα στην ιδέα του KCorax και μπορώ να πω ότι είμαι πάρα πολύ ευχαριστημένος. Καταρχάς, το Ning είναι τελικά πάρα πολύ εύχρηστο και ευχάριστο. Με 2-3 clicks είχα τελιώσει την εγγραφή μου …
