As I travel a lot in the winter up in the mountains for ski, I wanted to buy a new lighter and more portable laptop than my Gericom one. So, I decided to go for a netbook, despite the lots of controversial posts of the positives and negatives of netbooks. Διάβασα τις προάλλες το post του Robert Scoble, “Why Facebook has never listened and why it definitely won’t start now“. Εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον και συμφωνώ. Είναι φορές που κουράζεσαι από το πολύ blogging. Από τις μεγάλες ποσότητες πληροφορίας που σου έρχονται από το Google Reader, από το Friendfeed, από το Twitter. Από τις πολλές ώρες μπροστά από το PC. Ή ακόμα και από την εμφάνιση του blog σου. Συνέχεια ψάχνεις, ψάχνεις αλλά δεν βρίσκεις τίποτα σχετικά με το theme που έχεις στο μυαλό σου που να πληρεί κάποιες προϋποθέσεις-standards. Friendfeed stats
Μετά από πέντε μήνες παραμένουν σταθερά τα friendfeed stats μου και αυτό με εκπλήσσει καθώς μέχρι τώρα χρησιμοποιούσα κατά κόρον το Facebook. Αρχίζω σιγά σιγά την επανένταξη στην blog-ό-σφαιρα!
Review: Safari 4
Βγήκε σήμερα από την Apple, η πολυαναμενόμενη Public Beta έκδοση του Safari, ο Safari 4. Μιας και χρησιμοποιώ πλέον Windows Xp, είπα να τον κατεβάσω και να τον δοκιμάσω για πρώτη φορά σε Windows περιβάλλον, αφού μέχρι τώρα Safari είχα χρησιμοποιήσει μόνο σε Macbooks. Κατέβηκε γρήγορα με την 24άρα μου σύνδεση, αφού είναι 25,4 Mb και μέσα από τον Chrome, έκανα κατευθείαν το install, που μπορώ να πω ότι ήταν πολύ γρήγορο και απλό μιας και χρειάστηκε να κάνω κλικ -αν θυμάμαι καλά- τρεις ή τέσσερις φορές. Η πρώτη εντύπωση μου είναι ότι ο Safari 4 ακολουθεί τα χνάρια του Chrome, όσων αναφορά το design, το layout και το όλο στήσιμο. Εμφανισιακά δεν μου άρεσε που ναι μεν, βάζει τα …
Μετά από τρεις μήνες
Επιτέλους, γράφω μετά από τρεις μήνες στο blog. Πολλοί λόγοι για αυτή τη καθυστέρηση, αλλά δεν θα τους αναφέρω τώρα. Τρεις μήνες απουσίας από την ελληνική tech -και μή- blog-ό-σφαιρα και τα tech news. Τι άλλαξε? Ούτε τον Google Reader έβλεπα, ούτε twitter, ούτε τίποτα. (Στον Reader τα unread έφτασαν τουλάχιστον τα 15.000!) Από τότε άλλαξαν πολλά. Για παράδειγμα, την προηγούμενη Πέμπτη πήρα ένα netbook, το Turbo-X Topnote. Πολύ καλό. Αξίζει πραγματικά τα 400€. Το laptop που τρέχει Ubuntu θα το κάνω κάτι σαν personal server-κατεβαστήρι κλπ μαζί με τον εξωτερικό HDD όπου θα είναι όλα τα αρχεία και θα είναι ανοιχτά 24/7. Το καινούργιο setup του γραφείου μου
Την περασμένη Πέμπτη άλλαξα λίγο την εμφάνιση και λειτουργικότητα του γραφείου μου. Μέχρι τώρα είχα πάνω του το laptop, την οθόνη, ποντίκι, ηχεία, subwoofer και διάφορα άλλα π.χ. βιβλία. Γενικά επικρατούσε ένα χάος (κλασσικά). Έτσι που όταν πήρα τη γενναία απόφαση να το συμμαζέψω λίγο σκέφτηκα πως θα μπορούσα να γλιτώσω αρκετό χόρο εάν “έκρυβα” το laptop μου κάτω από το γραφείο -πάνω στη συρταριέρα, αφού έτσι κι αλλιώς το χρησιμοποιούσα μόνο σαν πληκτρολόγιο γιατί το είχα συνδέσει με την οθόνη. Έτσι, έβγαλα όλα τα καλώδια από πίσω και έβαλα το laptop πάνω στη συρταριέρα. Βέβαια είχα κάποιες ανυσηχίες καθώς είναι μικρός ο χώρος και μπορεί το laptop να γινόταν overheated, αν και μέχρι τώρα το ανεμιστηράκι κάνει πολύ καλά …

Since my inbox gets some times a bit overcrowded by mails and I have an attitude to reply immidiately or at least as soon as possible to mails and don’t want any unreads in my inbox, I have thought several times how to prevent and decrease as much as I can this from happening.
