DeskShade & Locksreen bug/hack
You know, there’s a cool Mac OS X app out there called Deskshade with many great features and enhancments for your desktop. Although it comes with plenty of smart time-savers and other small thingies I use it only for it’s screen-lock capability, called DeskLock which actually is a similar to WinKey+L in PCs.

Yesterday, Apple gave us the iOS 4. Yesterday late night, I was testing it. Today, I’ll write about it.

Learning Python
It’s been almost a year since I first learned the basics of Ruby — which now I’ve forgotten by the way, but the interest in programming hasn’t declined. For the last couple of weeks I was trying to make my way around C, C++ or Java tutorials. Hopefully, it was my friend, Dimitris, who sent me a bunch of cool resources and links from the Ioanna University, Department of Computer Science. Professor’s presentations, tutorials, syllabus and other valuable stuff for a newbie in programming. Despite all this great data, for some reason I kept digging about other languages and I found about Python out.

Πάνε 2 βδομάδες τώρα, που δουλεύω στο Macbook Air αντί για το αργό, βαρύτερο αλλά πιο μικρό Turbo-X Topnote netbook. Και δεν μετανιώνω καθόλου το switch από netbook σε laptop (και τί laptop!) και από Windows σε Mac OS X. Ούτε τεχνικά, αλλά κυρίως ούτε σε επίπεδο software! Στο software είναι που το OS X και η Apple κερδίζουν by far τον ανταγωνισμό είτε λέγεται Windows είτε Open Source Linux. Εδώ λοιπόν, είναι μια λίστα από τις εφαρμογές που πρέπει να έχει κάθε Mac user out there.

Ξεχάστε τα βαριά addons & extensions του Firefox και Opera. Η νέα εποχή είναι εδώ με τον Google Chrome και τα extensions του. Μικρά lightweight scripts που κάνουν ό,τι λένε και κάθονται υπομονετικά δίπλα από την address bar έτσι ώστε να μην τρώνε τσάμπα pixel και page content όπως οι γνωστές παλιές toolbars χωρίς περιττά pop-ups και extra cpu usage λόγω κακογραμμένου κώδικα.
