iPhone 3GS, small review – λίγα λόγια
Κατάφερα και εγώ πριν από λίγες μέρες να πάρω στα χέρια μου το πρώτο μου iPhone ever – σχεδόν με το που διατέθηκε στην ελληνική αγορά. Για να το αγοράσω βέβαια, μεταφέρθηκα (αναγκαστικά) από την WIND στην Cosmote, χωρίς (μέχρι στιγμής) κανένα πρόβλημα. Ευτυχώς. Τιμή και δόξα λοιπόν στο παλιό μου κινητό iNokia 6310i. Ναι για εκείνο το ασπρόμαυρο top-phone της εποχής του μιλάω που το μόνο που υπολείπεται του iPhone είναι Wifi, κάμερα και έγχρωμη οθόνη! Αν και διάβασα για πολλά -δυστυχώς- προβλήματα διάθεσης, ευτυχώς εγώ δεν συνάντησα κάτι αντίστοιχο μιας και πήγα στον Γερμανό έκανα τα απαραίτητα γραφειοκρατικά τερτίπια και πλέον κρατώ στα χέρια μου το beyond all other phones aka iPhone. Couple of days ago in Facebook, a FIS Alpine Ski World Cup athlete-racer, Steve Nyman, invited me to join a newly created Facebook Page called Skodeo. I dropped by and joined of course, because it was related to alpine ski and already there were some other World Cup athletes joined as fans. How Launchy saved me and my desktop
Having to deal with a small screen in my netbook which means not so much available desktop space, I searched and found Launchy. Launchy is a great app. It’s a small bar on your desktop from which you can run any programm you have on your computer with just a few keystrokes. For example, if I want to run Google Chrome, I just type “c” and then Enter. Or Photoshop, I type only “photo”. Launchy is a great tool for you, because you can have at last a clean desktop which is not full of other applications, files, icons etc. It indexes all of your programms, folders, documents and bookmarks automatically. Review: Desktop 2.0 using Twhirl
Since I was using Twhirl for my Twitter desktop client, I thought I could try it out for Friendfeed too. Creating the Twhirl Friendfeed profile and linking it with my Friendfeed via the Remote Key was a very quick and easy procedure. Then I had to change a bit my desktop to fit Twitter, Friendfeed and Launchy. That’s how my desktop looks now. I call it Desktop 2.0, a social, live and active interface for the web. Why you should buy a netbook
As I travel a lot in the winter up in the mountains for ski, I wanted to buy a new lighter and more portable laptop than my Gericom one. So, I decided to go for a netbook, despite the lots of controversial posts of the positives and negatives of netbooks. Dave Winer’s post about them made me wanting a netbook much more, because I was searching for a lightweight, cheap, small and good on hardware laptop. Βγήκε σήμερα από την Apple, η πολυαναμενόμενη Public Beta έκδοση του Safari, ο Safari 4. Μιας και χρησιμοποιώ πλέον Windows Xp, είπα να τον κατεβάσω και να τον δοκιμάσω για πρώτη φορά σε Windows περιβάλλον, αφού μέχρι τώρα Safari είχα χρησιμοποιήσει μόνο σε Macbooks. Κατέβηκε γρήγορα με την 24άρα μου σύνδεση, αφού είναι 25,4 Mb και μέσα από τον Chrome, έκανα κατευθείαν το install, που μπορώ να πω ότι ήταν πολύ γρήγορο και απλό μιας και χρειάστηκε να κάνω κλικ -αν θυμάμαι καλά- τρεις ή τέσσερις φορές. How many times you found a great website with a search term you don’t remember now? How many times you were thinking “this great site which I don’t remember it’s name”? Φτιάχνοντας ένα Social Network με το Ning
Το Σαββατοκύριακο που μας πέρασε χρειάστηκε να φτιάξω ένα website για το τμήμα μου στο σχολείο, στο οποίο θα βάζαμε τα καθήκοντα, διάφορα νέα, φωτογραφίες, το πρόγραμμα και γενικά σχετικά και μή με το σχολείο μας. Στην αρχή σκεφτόμουν για ένα blog στο Worpdress ή ένα tumblog στο Tumblr. Τελικά μέσω ένα tweet μου ο φίλος KCorax μου πρότεινε να κάνω ένα social network στο Ning. Σαν ιδέα μου άρεσε, αλλά επειδή δεν είχα ξανα-ασχοληθεί με το Ning δεν το είδα πολύ θερμά στην αρχή το θέμα. Βέβαια κατέληξα στην ιδέα του KCorax και μπορώ να πω ότι είμαι πάρα πολύ ευχαριστημένος. Review: Google Webmaster Tools & Google Analytics
Το Google Webmaster Tools και το Google Analytics μπορώ αρχικά να τα χαρακτηρίσω ως απλά SEO βήματα για κάποιον (σαν και εμένα) που δεν κατέχει γνώσεις γύρω από SEO (Search Engine Optimazation). Πραγματικά είναι πάρα πολύ χρήσιμα για τον αρχάριο αλλά μέχρι και για τον πιο advanced χρήστη. Google Analytics Ξεκινώντας με το Analytics, προσωπικά πιστεύω πως είναι το πιο εύκολο, εύχρηστο, γρήγορο και αξιόπιστο website stats platform για webmasters. Τα διαγράμματα, οι αναλύσεις, οι λεπτομέρειες είναι -όπως και να το δει κανείς- τα καλύτερα. Θεωρώ το Analytics ως μαζί με το Mint τα καλύτερα visitor tracking platforms.
